City of Katy Monument Sign

A civic monument for the City of Katy. Rather than a conventional flat cabinet, the sign is a tall cylindrical column finished in black, with the city name at its base and a perforated pattern cut through the upper body — a bird in flight above a field of stepped triangles.

Cutting the graphic through the skin rather than applying it to the surface means the pattern reads as light through metal by day and reverses at night if lit from within. Set from a crane by our crew.
