Entrance Canopies

Custom-designed entrance canopies that provide shelter and enhance building aesthetics.

From Our Gallery

Real entrance canopies projects completed by our team.

An entrance canopy marks the front door and shelters the people using it. Functionally it keeps rain off a doorway and reduces solar gain on adjacent glazing; architecturally it signals where the entrance is on a facade that might otherwise read as uniform.

Construction is typically an aluminum or steel frame with a metal deck, glass, or polycarbonate infill, either cantilevered off the building or supported on columns. Cantilevered canopies keep the ground clear and look lighter, but transfer their whole load into the wall, so the structure behind must be capable of taking it. Column-supported canopies spread the load and allow wider spans at the cost of floor space.

Drainage is the detail that separates a canopy that ages well from one that stains the facade beneath it. Integrated gutters and concealed downspouts routed away from the entrance are worth specifying from the outset. Every unit is designed, fabricated, and installed by Flite Signs from our Houston facility, with permit-ready drawings prepared before fabrication begins and a five-year warranty on completed work.

Key Features

  • Cantilevered or column-supported configurations
  • Aluminum and steel frames with metal, glass, or polycarbonate infill
  • Integrated gutters and concealed drainage
  • Optional recessed or perimeter LED lighting
  • Powder-coated finishes in custom colours
  • Signage and lettering integrated into the fascia

What to Consider

The wall has to carry it
Cantilevered canopies impose significant load at their attachment points. Existing buildings sometimes need blocking or reinforcement, which is far cheaper to establish during survey than during installation.
Clearance requirements
Where vehicles pass beneath — hotel porte-cocheres, medical drop-offs — clearance height governs the design and must accommodate ambulances or delivery vehicles, not just cars.
Combine it with identification
A canopy fascia is prime signage real estate at eye level. Designing the lettering into the canopy from the start avoids bolting on a separate sign later.

Commonly Used For
