Standing Seam Awnings

Durable metal awnings with standing seam construction for a modern architectural look.

Standing seam awnings take their name and their look from standing seam roofing: raised interlocking seams running down the slope of the panel, producing a strong linear rhythm and a distinctly architectural appearance. They read as permanent building elements rather than applied signage accessories.

The construction is genuinely durable. Metal panels — commonly aluminum or steel — over a welded frame, with concealed fasteners at the seams. There is no fabric to fade or replace and no membrane to fail, so once installed and finished the maintenance requirement is close to nil.

Finish is where the design decision sits. Kynar-based coatings hold colour for decades under UV exposure, which matters here; standing seam profiles are also available in copper and other metals intended to patina. Panel width and seam spacing change the visual scale considerably. Every unit is designed, fabricated, and installed by Flite Signs from our Houston facility, with permit-ready drawings prepared before fabrication begins and a five-year warranty on completed work.

What to Consider

Seam spacing sets the visual scale
Narrow seams read as fine and detailed; wide seams read bold and contemporary. Worth deciding against the scale of the building rather than in the abstract.
Heavier than fabric
Metal awnings weigh substantially more than fabric equivalents, so attachment points and any existing structure need assessing during survey.
Slope and drainage
The pitch that gives standing seam its look also sheds water. Where that water lands relative to the door below should be a deliberate decision.
