Flat Cut-Out Letters

Precision-cut dimensional letters in metal, acrylic, or PVC for a clean, professional look.

Flat cut-out letters are dimensional letters cut from a single sheet of solid material — aluminum, acrylic, PVC, brass, or stainless — with no internal cavity and no illumination. What they offer is precision: crisp edges, exact brand geometry, and a material finish that reads as substantial rather than applied.

Because there is no lighting to accommodate, the design questions are material, thickness, and finish. Thicker stock casts a deeper shadow line and reads more strongly in raking light. Brushed stainless and anodised aluminum suit corporate and architectural settings; painted acrylic gives exact brand colour at lower cost; PVC is the economical choice for interior work.

Mounting is where quality shows. Flush mounting sits the letter tight to the wall. Stud mounting holds it off the surface on concealed pins, so daylight passes behind and the letter casts a shadow — usually the more expensive option and almost always the better-looking one. Every unit is designed, fabricated, and installed by Flite Signs from our Houston facility, with permit-ready drawings prepared before fabrication begins and a five-year warranty on completed work.

What to Consider

Fine detail limits thickness
Delicate serifs and thin strokes constrain how thick the material can be before the letter becomes fragile. Logos with very fine elements sometimes need minor adjustment to survive fabrication.
Exterior finishes weather differently
Painted and anodised aluminum hold up well outdoors. Some brass and mild steel finishes will patina in Gulf Coast humidity, which is either a feature or a problem depending on intent.
They need their own light
With no internal illumination, night visibility depends entirely on ambient or external lighting. Exterior installations often pair with wall washers or gooseneck fixtures.
